Hue requires a hub. Smartthings requires a hub as well. Without getting into the hacking world, I don't believe you can hook this plug directly to the Hue hub. If you have both hubs, you can control and coordinate Hue through Smartthings. I have both systems and have chosen to run them independently with no linkage. I like the fact that the Smartthings Hub has a battery back-up that keeps everything going for a few hours if the power is out.

Unfortunately, you'll need the Samsung SmartThings Hub to use this. Though the Philips Hue and SmartThings devices will work together, they'll both need their own respective hubs to connect to. The hub is essentially the brain for the devices.
