• If your USB ports are blue its USB 3 and I'm pretty sure even a 2012 Samsung does have usb3. And while it won't see the full speed capable it will rock compared to other external drives you might buy and will be compatible with the new chromebook you buy from Best Buy because Google no longer supports the Chromebook.
