    Fast is an understatement!

As the title states, fast is an understatement, ridiculously fast! I have a Macbook Pro (w/Retina Display, right before the new model came out) with a 250gb ssd. I plugged this into the usb 3.0 port and wanted to test how fast it would transfer so I moved a 1gb movie file. At first, I thought it didn't move the file because all I heard was the click of the file transfer. When I checked, lo and behold, it moved that file instantaneously! It was actually drag and drop fast, way faster than transferring it to my Sandisk 3.0 usb flash drive! I also have an old Windows 7 laptop with less than stellar specs and while it wasn't anywhere near the transfer speed as the Mac, it was still quicker than my 7200rpm Seagate hdd. One interesting thing to note is that, on my mac, it actually showed a 500gb storage space when I first hooked it up. On Windows however, it showed something like 465gb. I'm guessing it has something to do with Windows based software that's included. The size of the drive really is the size of a business card. Color's a matte metallic finish (kind of anodized feel) and the cable's about 18 inches long. It's formatted as exFat so it works with Mac and Windows out of the box. I've only used this as an external storage and not as Time Machine so I have no idea how it performs with that. And a blue led light comes on when you plug the drive in. I got this before the price drop so it's an even better deal now. Only wish the storage size was bigger and that's the only reason why I'm giving it 4 stars. Other than that, it's been an awesome little drive!

    Great for XBox One

TL;DR: It works great, it noticeably improves load times on XBox One I purchased the Samsung T5 - 500GB External USB drive to improve the loading times for games AND add some additional storage to my Xbox One. The drive comes with USB 3 and USB type C cables - use the USB 3 cable for your XBox One. In my case, I already had one 1TB external hard drive (spinning disk) attached to the XBox for additional storage (NOTE: The XBox One requires 256GB or LARGER storage or it won't recognize the drive). The speed is approximately 25-30% faster to load games than from the external 1TB or internal. Most noticeable is map loading time in games like COD Black Ops 4's "Blackout" mode or Battlefield 1. If you need more storage space for games because you're filling up the internal drive, get a large external spinning disk drive (cheaper than SSD). Add a SSD to the second USB 3 port on the back of the XBox One if you want improved loading speed. Also note that this SSD drive is very small - 2.3" x 3" and 0.4" thick.

I bought an iMac desktop a few months ago (the cheapest desktop Apple offered) and was never happy with the load times compared to the MacBook Pro. My iMac has the old style 5400 RPM hard drive in it. I bought this Samsung SSD after talking to the salesperson in the Apple section in the Knoxville Store (thanks for the idea, wish I got your name), to see if the apps load any faster from it. The difference in speed was so good that I decided to make this a boot disk for the iMac and load all my apps to it. It took a few hours to setup and I had to set up my computer like a new Mac but the difference in load times is insane. The old internal drive would take about 4 minutes from turn on, to be able to use it at all (had to wait for the spinning rainbow circle to stop if you are familiar with Macs.). Now, using this Samsung SSD as a boot drive, the startup time is maybe 25 seconds. I also rarely have any wait time (spinning rainbow circles) starting apps like I used to encounter all the time, and when I do, it’s for maybe 2 seconds. Highly recommend this SSD and will be buying another to run my Logic Pro DAW files from the MacBook.

I really love this portable drive. Since it's an SSD, it's fast and easy to use. Essentially, just plug and play. It is very small, given the amount of storage capacity. The only thing I don't like is the cable. I can't stand these cheap cables that manufacturers include with their products. The cable for this HDD is the typical, jumper cable with the harder plastic shielding. The result when unfolded is a semi-accordion shaped, semi-rigid thing that won't cooperate in whatever limited space I'm using it in. I replaced the cable with a decent braided cloth covered cable, just to get the length and flexibility I needed. Honestly, the difference in the cost of the two types of cables can't be enough to justify sending out the cheapo version with a >$100 hard drive. Even so, I love this hard drive. From a functional standpoint, this is fantastic.

I’m more of a fan of  products, but when  doesn’t make certain products, then I turn to Samsung for such items. This portable SSD is great for portable storage and back up of whatever data you want to keep from losing should your computer crash on you. At 500 GB, this has plenty of memory to store large files such as movies and music. A 1TB SSD is available as well. Device comes with security software with password capability to keep your data secure. Construction of this device is good, but would not recommend letting it get wet or heavy items falling on it. Overall, it’s a great product and comes with 2 cables so that you can connect to any computer. I recommend this storage device over any thumb/flash drive.

Great for Transfer of Files from Android Devices

No issues writing or reading files from a Samsung Tab S3 or Galaxy S8. Both devices were able to power the T5 from the devices USB connection. I also use it to do a system mirror of my PC (T5 needs reformatted to a NTFS format for this option) in less than a half hour (300GB of data). Additionally, it can be used to play files on a Roku 3 streaming device. In summary, I got more than what I thought I paid for when I purchased the T5. After reading many reviews I was doubtful it would work with the Android devices and only if supplemental power supply was used to power the SSD. I was pleasantly surprised that there were no issues.

Best Buy sent me an email asking me to rate this recent purchase. The T5 drives are always rated near a perfect 5 stars in Best Buy and everyplace else. So in addition to yet another 5-star rating... I wanted more storage so I purchssed this as an alternative to a micro-SD card. At the time the Samsung 256GB card was about $85 and the 512GB not really available. At $100, the cost of the 500GB T5 was little more than the 256GB card. It has almost 2x the storage capacity and is 5x as fast. And easier to move between devices. If you have a good file manager on your Android device it is just plug and play, you dont even need the app's software unless you want to encrypt the drive. It works flawlessly and is very cost-effective storage expansion.

These little Samsung Portable SSDs never cease to amaze me. It comes with both a USB A to C and a C to C cord unlike previous generations. This thing is also faster than the previous T3 generation. I use this drive for storing Final Cut X libraries that I am currently working on. It handles 4K video flawlessly since it is so incredibly fast and reliable. What I also like is there small size and the resilience of this little drive. Unlike external HDD, an SSD has no moving parts, that means that if I accidentally jostle the SSD I am not risking massive data loss like I would on an HDD. Also, this thing is so much faster than any thumb drive I have ever used. This device is well, well worth the price.

I purchased this drive to give a performance boost to my MacMini from 2012 and it was well worth the investment. After some research on Youtube on how to format an external SSD as a primary boot-up drive for a Mac, I connected this drive via one of the USB ports in the rear of the MacMini and great things began to happen. I set the MacMini to boot up to the SSD instead of the old hard drive, and I've never looked back. Everything runs faster on an SSD, and this Samsung SSD is fast on boot-up. Highly recommend if you want to give an old Mac a performance boost without cracking into the hardware itself. Just use the original hard drive as a back-up drive.

I do video work and run a PC repair shop. I have always used portable external hard drives to move data between machines because they hold tons of stuff and are quite cheap per gigabyte. I bought this external SSD because I suspected that having a smaller but much faster external drive might be helpful in both of my lines of work, and boy was I right! This SSD is so fast that it can keep my gigantic RAID arrays 100% loaded during transfers and data transfers are so fast that I almost can't believe it. This SSD makes a huge difference when you're dealing in throughput-sensitive workloads and you won't regret buying it. Highly recommended.

Fast and petite, it's a great little unit. I usually build SSD external drives for my clients' backup needs but this is actually cheaper as a 500GB 2.5" SSD is about $100-$110 plus an external case at $30 from Best Buy. I was out the door, including tax, at a lower than if I had built my own. On top of being cheaper and smaller, it also comes with two cables, a standard USB cable and a USB-C to USB-C cable. This is great as many of my clients have legacy Macintoshes that still have standard USB ports. When my clients upgrade in the future to newer hardware, they already have the proper hardware for backup or to transfer their existing data to the new Mac with this Samsung unit.

I started copying some very large folders (about 100 GB) from my old laptop on to an older Passport external hd. After 3 hours of copying, I cancelled it and attached the Scandisk SSD and started the same copy. It copied from my old computer in about 1 1/2 hours. When I loaded the copied files to my new HP Spectre, it only took 50 minutes. Now that is amazing!!!!!. The Scandisk ssd is about the sizes of a credit card and about 1/4th inch thick. So far, it's compatible with all my older gadgets. It comes with both a USB cord and a USB-c cord. I chose the Scandisk SSD external drive after reading all the great reviews and it's certainly living up to them.

This SSD external drive is super fast and, so far, rock solid reliable. I can't say enough good about the Samsung T5 line of SSDs. Although SSDs are still much more expensive per MB than spinning disks, the costs have come down and are very much worth it. I use this specific drive to do backups of my MacBook Pro with SuperDuper!. What took an agonizingly long time before (even using the SmartUpdate option) now finishes relatively quickly. A half hour, tops, versus the over an hour it would take before. It's not as fast as an internal SSD would be, but it's close enough and, as I said, I can't say enough good about it!

Im nearly speechless. For the past few years I've used a traditional HDD 1TB (moving parts) type drive. It was effective but on occasion irritatingly noisy. Today, I decided to try an SSD, as my HDD was louder than my TV. What a great purchase!!! It's so quiet, I wasn't sure it was working! It too is a fraction of the size of my HDD. It probably would take 50 of the SDD to equal the physical size of the HDD. It too is a workhorse. It's lightning fast, smaller than a smartphone and doesn't talk back! (LAUGHING). Away with the nagging HDD and in with the SDD!!! One last thing, it's stylish/sleek in appearance.

I bought this with the idea that a solid state drive might be faster than the internal hard drive on my Xbox one x - even though it is connected using a usb cable. Turns out it did help. The load times on Red Dead Redemption 2 and Anthem seem to have improved since moving them over to this drive. My only regret is I didn’t get the 1 tb version. With this one, I can only put a few larger games at a time and have to move them as I play them.

This unit was specifically recommended by a photo coach for its portability. Cost per GB is higher than a spinner, but shock resistance when compared to a similar size of spinning drive makes the extra expense worthwhile. I use two of these drives: One is my working drive that holds all of my images for a year. This first drive is always connected to my main computer when I'm home, providing fast access to a year's worth of files. This first drive also backs up to my cloud and Drobo NAS. The second drive is a backup of the first while in the field, and this drive never leaves my person while I'm on a trip.

The size is amazing. It weights nothing, it's super fast, and reasonably priced. So why not 5 stars? Well, I guess I could do 5. But 5 means perfect to me, and I'd like the following: 1. A thinner cable, and very flexible, like Apple cables. The drive is so tiny, that the thick, non-flexible cable makes it impossible to set the drive nice and neat on something. There's no rubber feet or bottom, so the drive just flies around. And I'd prefer the led activity light on the end opposite the cable so I can see it. A tiny carrying case would have been nice too. But performance wise? All good. Black or grey would be nicer, but who cares on that part.

Great working drive. I use it as my functioning drive for FCPX with my 2017 MBP. I throw my footage into Final Cut with my library on the external then get the files off my internal. All the rendering is super fast, no hiccups, I hardly have to wait at all for renders - most of the time I don’t- and there are zero glitches. I’ll most likely pick up a second (larger) one as well. The USB-C / SSD drives are awesome!

Been playing Xbox for a long time and the internal drive was very slow for most games more so for Destiny 2. On the recommendation from a friend, decided to purchase an SSD to help speed things up and boy am I glad I did. This simple purchase accelerated load times a ton. Would recommend this drive (Samsung comp equip had never let me down in the past) to whomever wants to have faster load times in their Xbox games. Transferring from the Xbox internal drive to this external SSD was no problem at all and pretty quick too might I add. Five stars all around.

I love the transfer speed on my Samsung SSD, I think this is a must have for post production work. I am currently using it to download Pictures and Videos so it does not slow down my computer. But the only thing I have noticed is that my Bluetooth features turn off from my Keyboard and wireless mouse. I had to unplug the Samsung SSD in order to get things working. And the Keyboard had to be hard wired to the back of my IMac. Not sure if anyone else experienced this issue with their PC. But overall it delivers the transfer speeds I needed, when I am done with my work, I dump it on my WD My Passport.
