Hello Dave, I have a MacBook Pro Retina that I use with two of these monitors. They didn't look that good until I plugged them in with active Thunderbolt to HDMI adapters. Don't know if that will help you or not.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.To get the full resolution you will need a DP to Thunderbold cable. I ordered mine on Amazon. Don't use HDMI it has a limited resolution. If you lack thunderbolt your Mac is too old for retina resolutions.
