A:AnswerIm not sure if you have to but try to install the app on your computer. Once installed, it will prompt you to add a password to protect your drive but you dont have to have a password. Maybe you need the app to kick start the thing. I didnt try connecting it without installing the device. Maybe you need the app. If not, maybe a bad drive.
