IT professional here. Yes your laptop will be able to handle this SSD drive. You will need the Windows disc and product to do a clean install or you will need an external drive bay for this and clone your windows install over. Just make sure you realize this is only 240gb, might to delete things if you're cloning.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes as long as you have a driver for it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This SSD is the same shape/size as the normal 2.5" SATA laptop hard drive and will work with your laptop. However, the next question is, how easy is it to physically replace it? Older laptops often have a compartment on the bottom for the hard drive. With newer, thin laptops, you might have to take the back off or unscrew and lift the keyboard to get to the hard drive. It looks like yours is this type. Here's a site showing how to get to the hard drive of your laptop: http://www.insidemylaptop.com/how-to-disassemble-dell-inspiron-14z-5423/ I suggest that you follow these instructions to be sure you can remove the hard drive before you buy the SSD. The next question, how to install the operating system? I have not used migration software that claims to copy the system. I prefer to do a clean install of Windows instead. That is easy and gives you a clean system to work with.
