“When using sd card is there a wait for the card to "download" to the player and does it resume play where you stopped listening? My current player has no waiting period, it plays directly from the card, the downside being it does not resume play from where you stop it. A co-worker's player "downloads" the card every time she wants to listen to music on the card and this can sometimes take 5 to 10 minutes!”

My Clip does not do either one of what you described. If the sd card is pulled out for some reason, it will do a "re-read" of the newly installed media which takes a few minutes. Once this is done, playing songs installed on the sd card is as seamless as playing songs stored in the internal memory. It will resume play where ever it was stopped (at least 95% of the time).
