Yes, this is compatible with older USB ports. You won't get the 3.1 speeds, but it will work. One thing to note, if you're on windows 7 64-bit, you shouldn't have any problem. If you're on Windows XP 32-bit, then you could run into some issues if you're not sure what you're doing. You'll have to format the flash drive in NTFS or exFAT format. exFAT is supported only by later Android operating systems... but if your phone has a USB-C slot, then you have a later model phone. NOTE - this USB flash drive has BOTH a standard USB type A and a USB C connection (A = regular USB ports on the back of your computer / C = the omni-directional elongated oval ports on newer devices and phones... like the Apple Lightning adapter, there is no correct orientation to plug it in... either side will work)
