• Open the other side - it is regular USB-A. This is a Dual adapter. One side for phone with USB-C & other side with USB-A for laptop.

• The button on the side slides one way to extend the USB-C plug and slides the opposite direction to extend the standard USB plug. I use it to transfer files to and from my MacBook Pro USB-C port and my PC standard USB port.

• This is the new faster protocol being adapted by the PC manufacturers including Apple, thereby creating a true Industry standard. It's at times called USB3.1 type c. • If this is the dual type drive with SKU 5219003, there are 2 connectors. Slide the switch to one side, you get USB-C. Slide the switch to the other side you get the usual USB 3.1 for PC or laptop. Just be careful there is a very similar looking one that only has one connector and is not dual.
