No, you don't have to. I didn't. If you have a Samsung, go to My Documents or My Files > Select the files > edit > move to USB

it doesnt appear that you need to load anything. When you plug the USB flash drive into your android device - it should appear in your File Manager/File Explorer: See this website: https://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8670 Then you can copy files to it like you would move files around on your device.
