• Yes. It can. Just plug it into your phone and transfer your messages to the flash drive. I did it and it worked great.

• If you know what file the messages are stored in the phone, you can copy them to the sandisk. However, text messages are not in a normal readable format (like word, or .txt). I was not able to find the message file on my phone so I could copy it and google answers did not help. I read there is an app you can get on a laptop or tablet that will let you copy and read text messages. That would be better than using the sandisk.
