A:Answer I recently purchase this drive and the performance is up to par with the speeds offered by my devices. The type of port isn't what controls the speed, it is the USB chip inside your device(laptop, phone etc). Just as the original type A port has stayed the same from USB1 up to the most current USB3.x. So the port hasn't changed, just the chip inside your device has. That is to say that the USB C port on my phone is only USB2 so that's what dictates the speed of file transfers. And if I attach it to a typeA USB3 port on my laptop the speed is then up to par with USB3 speeds. And if I attach it to one of the typeA USB2 ports on my laptop I then only get the performance of USB2. I have a friend with a much more expensive phone which has a USB3 (type C) port and true to expectations, it is much faster than my USB2 (type C) port. I haven't benchmarked this drive as that's only useful if I have the highest performing USB chip in my device, otherwise the benchmark will reflect my chip's performance more than the USB drives.
