I'd definitely replace, depending on the model your new Acer would have difficulty handling both in terms of cpu/gpu cueing. Have similar machine and the SanDisk 1 TB is lightning fast with a ton of storage but Acer, depending on processor, may not be able to handle it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.this depends on your laptop - if it has an extra internal 2.5" drive slot just add as an additional drive, if it doesn't you will need to get cloning software and clone the 256gb drive onto the new ssd, then install the new ssd(this is my understanding I am not an expert).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Only use the internal drive for programs and an external drive for data storage. When you want to work on a file, open it up in the program that is on the internal drive and save it back to the external drive. I would suggest a second external drive to copy your data to so that should one fail you won't lose every thing. It can also be used as a backup drive to the internal hard drive. When you are going away you can take the data drive with you.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You will need to replace your 256 drive with the new one. You could buy an external case and put the SSD in it and have more space but it will be external.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm not familiar with the Acer Nitro 5. But since it's a gaming laptop and you're referring that it has space for an additional hard disk, I would clone the 256 to the 1TB and then use the 1TB as your main drive. Then I would put the current 256 into the laptop as a second drive and format it and use it for additional space. But, if the Nitro is a newer laptop, the main drive may be a pci-e card and you will have to stick with it as your main drive or upgrade it with a 1TB pcie ssd (ouch!). Hope this helps.
