• Yes, i think so......i used this support for a 48" TV, although it said it was suitable for larger TVs. So I thought it might be too big, but it is fine.....I wanted a bracket that went into 2 wall studs, not just 1 wall stud....I wanted the TV attached securely to the wall.

• It might be too large for your 42". I think sanus will have a different mount for that size tv with similar features.

• I would recommend getting a smaller sanus mount for less than 50 inch tv it will fit better and is cheaper.

• You can but with smaller TV's sometimes the brackets can stick out from behind the TV. Call Sanus to verify this at 1-800-359-5520 - Scott
