A:Answer There are two versions of the Saramonic microphone that look very similar. This one is designed for an iPad's headphone jack: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/saramonic-smartmic-condenser-microphone/6124844.p?skuId=6124844 Saramonic - SmartMic Condenser Microphone
Model:SMARTMIC SKU:6124844
The difference is in the connection. The SmartMic has a TRRS tip (notice 3 black bands) while the the other one only has TRS (2 black bands). You can usually get a TRS plug to work in an iPad but the TRRS won't work if you plug it into a dedicated microphone input (like on a digital camera or audio recording device). TRRS allows for your headphones with a built in microphone to send data back and forth on devices with an audio port (both mic and headphone in one jack).
So, if you only plan on using the microphone with your iPad, and not a digital camera or device with a mic only input, then the microphone I mention above is your best bet. If you want something that could be used on an iPad and a camera, the non"Smart" version should work on both types (I tested it with my iPad). If you get the TRRS "smart" version and eventually want to use it with another device with a mic only input, you would need to get a TRRS to TRS converter. If you search YouTube for TRRS and TRS, you'll find many videos describing the differences.
