That would depend on how clearly the person speaks with the mask on. If they don't annunciate, it's going to sounds like a mumble. What a person who is standing near them hears with their ears, is very similar to what the lavalier will pick up. Another way to get a better sound is to mount the lavalier closer to the subjects's mouth. Because the sound waves are blocked by the mask, they won't travel as far as easily so bringing the Lavalier a little closer is the best bet.
