• The back of the desk does have some unfinished surfaces and would not be suitable for your application.

• The back has some open press board surface and is not really appropriate for divider or open space use. However a little dark brown paint could make it work.

• No it isn't - in fact it has unfinished wood on it that if you don't put it against the wall people will be able to see it. Really bad design.

• Yes it is Dark Brown...very good wood I have to say! It looks way more expensive than it was.
