Your hard drive only needs to be compatible to your system. To replace your failed drive all you need to do is get another SATA hard drive with same or more hard drive space. The only reason to look for similar compatible drive is if your drive crashed and you are having disaster recovery done on it, in which they are attempting to recover the data from the platters or repair the circuit board. In which case they will most likely want an identical drive (same brand and model).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Serial ATA desktop hard drive are the same except for size. The drive is a 3.5 size and can be used in all desktop computers. If you are still running windows XP, I would not use bigger than a 500GB. For visa, 7 OR 8. Size is not a problem. I think a 1TB is the biggest I would use, and if more space is needed use an external hard drive.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe the ST3500641AS-RK would fit the bill.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am not sure what you are referring to when talking about "compatible" because as long as you get a drive of the same size regardless of which manufacturer, you should be able to use it. Western Digital also sells these drives like yours. I know this because I just replaced one and it is still going strong.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Any SATA drive will work. Take a look at the SSD drives for your OS. The prices are dropping and the speeds are amazing. You will need a secondary drive for your documents etc. For that, I would look at another 1TB SATA. You'll sleep with a smile
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Your hard drive is a SATA hard drive. SATA is the type of connection used to connect to your computer. This is a standard and that let's me know what type of hard drive to recommend. That being said, you can use a SATA drive of with the same specs, 500gb 7200 or you can upgrade to more space if you need. The main thing you are looking for is that the drive is SATA. You can go with a slower speed, 5400 and more space, 750gb or even a 1 TB. I hope this answers your question.
