This is a DESKTOP hard drive so NO it will not work in a Macbook Pro laptop.

This is not a notebook hard drive, and will not work in any kind of notebook. If using a MacBook, I would recommend just throwing your present inferior and unsuitable macbook away and buying a brand new one.

You would not likely see a speed increase at all unless your current drive is failing and has dropped well below performance specs and/or your current drive is nearly full, thereby greatly affecting use of the OS's swap file.

The Barracuda 500GB Internal Hard Drive listed is for Desktop systems only. Since Macbook Pro's are usually laptop systems, this drive will not fit into this computer. We do have many laptop drives available, and we have listed a few under "My product recommendations". You would want to check with Apple first before purchasing any replacement drive to verify that the drive will work correctly with their system.
