Q: Questioncompatible with 3 Gbps system or 6 Gbps?I just bought this. The box says 6 Gbps backward compat to 3 Gbps with an add in card. The BB website says up to 3 Gbps. Which is correct?
Asked by Willie.
- A:Answer Thanks for the reply. I've done more research since my original question and I think I understand now. First, I do not need any card to use the drive. The sata cable in my old computer will connect to this new drive and the drive will operate at 3 gbps, just like the old one. The add in card would be to have the drive operate faster than 3 gbps in an old system 3 gbps system. I think the BB website should say up to 6 gbps because the drive is rated at 6 and will operate at that speed in a new 6gbps computer. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
