A:AnswerThanks for the reply. I've done more research since my original question and I think I understand now. First, I do not need any card to use the drive. The sata cable in my old computer will connect to this new drive and the drive will operate at 3 gbps, just like the old one.
The add in card would be to have the drive operate faster than 3 gbps in an old system 3 gbps system.
I think the BB website should say up to 6 gbps because the drive is rated at 6 and will operate at that speed in a new 6gbps computer.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
A:AnswerReturn it to Seagate for an exchange. It will cost you postage but they will send a refurb drive to replace.

A:AnswerGo into your BIOS when you boot (F2) and set the CDROM as the first boot device.
Get out your Windows OS CD and pop it in.
Run the install.
If you have a floppy inserted, remove it. also disconnect any unused USB devices to make life easier.
