You want a USB 3.0 to 2.5 inch Sata III hard drive adapter. This will allow you to clone your current drive directly to the SSD connected to the adapter. That's the easy way just to migrate. However, with some effort you can do it without an additional cable if you have enough room on another computer drive to save an image of your current lap top drive. I removed the hard drive from my lap top and connected it to a spare SATA cable and SATA power cable on my desktop computer and saved an image of the drive partition to my desktop drive using EauseUS Partition Master 10.2. Then I connected the ssd and copied the clone image to the SSD and then put the ssd in the laptop and booted it up. One note is my hp drive has an adapter that I had to remove from the old drive and put on the SSD to allow connecting the SATA cable and SATA power cable. I had to switch the adapter between the old drive and SSD while connecting them.
