A:AnswerI am thinking encryption vs. incryption is what was meant to be in question and no it does not appear to have encryption. I do not think that it is the most vital feature for the ordinary person - space/capacity, size and ease of use I think are more important for the ordinary person.
A:AnswerNo clue to what an expansion model is unless it is an extra internal drive. Portable model means you can plug it in, copy gobs of stuff on to it, carry it to another computer and transfer the gobs of stuff,
A:AnswerMac should be able to format drive to (not a mac person) and you can probably get free software that allows mac to read FAT32 (I have one for Linux). Be careful to only format the external drive, else you lose EVERYTHING.

A:AnswerI have a digital tv converter box that movies get saved on either an external hard drive or flash drive just by plugging it to the usb port. I would think if you have an usb port, it should show up as a portable device and you could copy to it or save it but I am not a tech smarty either. Best Buy employee should know, I ask them questions all the time. Good luck
A:AnswerI only buy new drives so this drive was new. No special setup needed since USB connection. Western Digital also has a fine line of external drives..
