The difference will be noticed in the speed, but if you don't have the updated USB 3.0 jack on your PC, then you will not be able to notice that it is a bit slower in processing because you can't compare the speed difference only having the 2.0 jack, but when you do upgrade in the future, this will be ready for you at the faster rate of transfer speeds.
