“Can I plug it directly into my router to create a storage cloud?”

• I am using The Seagate Backup Plus 8TB drive connected to my Netgear Nighthawk X8 Triband router AC5300 router via the USB 3.0 connection as a backup cloud and a sharing cloud. I backup two Windows 10 PCs and an Apple IPad to the Seagate drive using Netgear Hub software not the Seagate dashboard software.

• That would likely depend more on your router than the hard drive.

• Heck yes. I have an older Seagate external and connect it to my router for that exact purpose (for PLEX). ;-)
