• A:Answer No, there is nothing on the drive until you put something there. I do not know about other Operating Systems, but AMD and Intel recognize the drive in a matter of seconds with no input from you. There is, however, no OS pre-installed on the drive. You must install the OS of your choice BEFORE using it as the "C" drive in your computer.

• A:Answer No it is not . It is packaged very well and the serial registered as never used . I called seagate to confirm that it didn’t show a warranty degradation being as it wasn’t in the original box.
