It works with my Note 8, which has a built in USB 3.0 C. There is a limitation, however. While you can access both the external HDD and the external memory card slot at the same time, transferring directly between them is problematic for larger files. You need to transfer from SD card to Phone memory first, and then Phone memory to external HDD. Or, back the other way. I suspect its a power issue. The NOte 8 cannot power both the SD card slot and the external HDD at the same time for large transfers. Small transfers work ok.
