• The previous answer is incorrect. A Mac can easily read a hard drive formatted for a PC. But the reverse is not true. If you want this to be read by a Mac, then simply format it on your Mac using the "MS-DOS (FAT)" format, and it will work fine with both machines.

• No, typically when you set up and format an external hard drive, it can only be used with either PC or MAC. I realize there may be larger types of backup drives out there that can be interchanged, but this one cannot.
