I purchased the hard drive for my Xbox One because my memory was getting full. So far I kept the drive plugged in and placed in my game content and played as much as I wanted. Take it from a fellow gamer, if you want to expand your stuff, this is for you. I can't anything for people who use it for desktops and laptops, mainly because a lot of opinions have differed. But it's pretty solid if you want it just for your games.

Fast, quiet and most important; reliable. I have had this for a good amount of time now and I have always been impressed with how fast it is (I copy large files) and when this little guy is plugged into a USB 3.0 SS port, it is just as fast as an internal platter drive!

This Seagate 4TB expansion hard drive is light weight, fast and quiet. I take it everywhere! I use it with my 2016 Apple MBP, configuring to MAC was simple and is very easy to use. Get yourself one!

Pros: So fast for USB. Hooked up to USB3 I threw 2TB of movies at it and it never, ever dipped below 120mbs on the copy. And it's silent and a great size. Got a little warm but not hot.
Cons: I wish the cord was longer. Seriously, 18" is barely enough to get to the back of my case and put the drive on top, it's a stretch.
The drive is too tall for a PS4 if you're thinking about that. Stick to the 2TB one.
Other Thoughts: A great deal when it was on sale. If I ever fill this up with backups I will certainly buy another.

I needed a large drive for my movies, photos and music and this drive fits the bill nicely. I got it for an outstanding price and I am very happy with it.
A:The previous answer is incorrect. A Mac can easily read a hard drive formatted for a PC. But the reverse is not true. If you want this to be read by a Mac, then simply format it on your Mac using the "MS-DOS (FAT)" format, and it will work fine with both machines.
A:It depends on the size of the movie. A Typical commercial DVD is roughly 8 Gigs, so 4TB would hold about 500 DVDs (4000/8). Single layer Blue-Ray disks (high def) will be around 25GB and dual layer disks 50GB, so figure 160 and 80 respectively. Of course, these are approximations.
A:I schedule for an early Monday morning backup (1 am). Then I check to see if it completed (8 am) ; if so; then unplug until Sunday evening and plug it in again. If you get hit with virus or malware during the week your backup if unplugged is still safe!
