Not knowing which computer you have, I suspect that you are attaching via an older USB 2.0 port, and will need to device driver to make this drive work. That should be available from the support section of the Seagate site.

When opening up "My Comuter", the drive should show up in the same section as the "C" drive rather than most USB thumb drive section. Or, you may need to go into the computer management function to load or install a USB port.
