PS5 games can only be played off of internal memory, including an M.2 upgrade. External drives can store PS5 games, but will need to be transferred to internal memory to play, though PS4 games can be played directly off the drive. It's not really PS4 versus PS5, as it will do the same job on both. PS5 games are just not designed to be played off of an external drive.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don’t own ps5, but from what I’ve read, you can only store ps5 games on it and if you want to play, gotta move it back to ps5. At moment external HDD can’t function on ps5 like it can with ps5. Makes sense being it’s more powerful console compared to ps4.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.At the moment, youu can SAVE PS5 Games, but not play them from an external drive. You can save and play PS4 games though from an external drive.
