NO! It works as wireless or you can use a hotspot, which ever you choose!

Not necessarily, I have my connected via Ethernet to a network hub, of course the 4-way hub is connected back to my router/modem. You can also connect it direct via USB cable, but the cable doesn't come with the hard drive, so you have to buy that separately.

Hi i've a single modem + wireless, to which i've directly connected segate NAS drive. i would suggest yes to be connected directly so as latency can be ignored for accessing the drive remotely. please let me know also if any other way. thanks
