Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Not necessarily, I have my connected via Ethernet to a network hub, of course the 4-way hub is connected back to my router/modem. You can also connect it direct via USB cable, but the cable doesn't come with the hard drive, so you have to buy that separately.
