Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you can use this drive as long as you have the proper housing for it. I personally use it as my backup drive also and It is housed in a portable usb drive bay I purchased from another retailer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Not safely. The wifi components seem to make the drive unstable. You would be better off using a non-wifi drive for backup. I have hard drives by other manufacturers, and have never had any problems. Further, you may want to reconsider buying the Backup Plus. I assume that Seagate applies the same quality control to all of their products as they did with this one - making their products a bad place to store your data.
