A:Answer It does remove, so you could wash it, but it seems like it would be a bit of a pain getting the pillow back into the cover once it's washed. The synthetic material it's made from a nylon or polyester fabric pills very easily, and when you try and remove the little balled up bits of fabric, it pulls out even more really fine strands of the material. I have a beard, and when the pillow rubs against my beard it tends to catch on the fine threads. which is very annoying. The pillow is well built, with a lot of rear neck support, but I wish it had a more comfortable cover. Something like soft cotton terrycloth.
