“I have a Denon AVR-887 receiver & Onkyo cd-player. The Denon is rated at 135 watts per channel. I like to listen to classic rock such as Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, and AC/DC at pretty high volumes. Will these headphones work well with this set-up?”

I am using them for Zeppelin, Deep Purple' Sabbath and deicate stuff like Yes, Pink Floyd and some softer rock. I am also using it for studio mixing as well. I think you can go wrong with them. I also run them through a dedicated DAC / head phones amp. They are 150 ohms so they should run on mostly any amp.
