• yes, if you use the a/v jacks out of the cable/ dvd box. If you use the earphone jack on the tv you will be the only one hearing, unless you order a second headphone .

• That would depend on your TV. On ours, we can plug the RS-120 into the audio output on the TV and it doesn't disable the normal TV sound. The volume on the TV can be set as you normally would, or muted, while someone else is listening with the headphones.
