“How well do these noise cancel? I want to exclusively listen to my music, not have to hear the conversation beside me or peoples phones ringing or beeping. Does it cancel noise or do you have to "put the volume" up until you're nearly deaf to block everything out...”

Thank you for your question. These Sennheiser headphones are not noise canceling, but they do provide excellent noise isolation. Noise isolation blocks out outside noise, while noise cancelation cancels it. Noise canceling is ideal for extremely loud environments like planes or trains. In most cases good noise isolation headphones are less expensive, and provide a great listening environment. Sennheiser does carry a line of noise cancelling available through bestbuy.com.
