• Ours is only month old so wearing out is unknow. Our last one lasted a year but it was a different kind. NOISY yes. That is only the real draw back of this shredded. Shreds in little pieces so that is the purpose.

• It is not noisy. After about 30 minutes of continuous use, it needs to cool down.

• It is not a quiet shredder and it shreds for a good while before it requires cool down time.
