• The wand stays in with the vacuum and when you want to use an attachment you press the wand botton and it separates to use or you can use only the wand without tube to make it shorter. Vacuums really good though

• The wand is very easy to use. It unattaches in two places to create either a long or short wand. The dirt container also comes off so you can carry it while using the wand for high up or stairs. Very convenient and easy to take off and put back.

• Hello, We are happy to assist you with your inquiry regarding the Shark® DuoClean® Lift-Away Speed™ NV771 Upright Vacuum. When cleaning above floor, you disconnect the handle from the wand. For a longer reach, you can leave the handle connected to the wand, and then disconnect the wand from the rest of the vacuum.
