My neighbor and I have same units that are less than 50' apart and no interference. Main unit has rechargeable battery. Keypad has 4 AA or AAA batteries. Entry sensors have flat round batteries (CRXXXX or something like that) and motion detector has a battery that looks like 1/2 of a AAA battery. Could be a lot of battery replacement but specs indicated most should last 2 years.
