Why does this camera not work with 5mkz null

Most likely because 2.4 travels farther. You should have 2.4 on your router.

I believe SimpliSafe has stated that their rationale for using 2.4 GHz is that this frequency is better able to penetrate structures (like walls) than 5 GHz. In other words, it is a more stable platform for a remote camera and will result in fewer of those aggravating disconnects. I've been using this camera now for a couple of months, and it is very stable. I'm quite satisfied with it.
