You will need a radio with either FM or preferably an AUX input. The Commander module needs to be plugged into an AUX port or in the FM antenna port. The AUX port will work best and give you the best sound. If you want the connector hidden, an AUX port in the rear of the radio would be great. The volume is only controlled at the radio I believe. There is a setting within the Commander that allows you to adjust the volume to match the other sources on the radio, so if you switch for CD or an FM station to Satellite, the volume won't be to high or too low. If you have to buy a radio anyway, you may want to get one that already includes the Satellite feature. I hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You do not have to have a head unit in order to use this. You can us an amp with AUX and it will work and probably be more cheaper. You will need speakers either way. This is the way most of the high end bass competitors do their setup is without a head unit and straight through the amp for less issues
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The volume control is not uilt into the satellite.
