“Can these be used for TV that is not a smart TV? I want to get these as Christmas gift and the person I'm getting them for is hard of hearing so hoping this will help to keep the volume down on the TV. Do they have to be plugged into the TV? Our TV is 4 years old and not a smart TV. Thank You”

No, out of the box they could not be even most smart tvs out of the box they would not be able to be used. You would need a device transmit your audio via Bluetooth. There are many such devices on the market you just need to pay attention to what you are buying as most the devices that will come up are receivers not transmitters. In most cases they will either plug into the 3.5mm headphone jack on the back of the tv or you would have to use a RCA to 3.5mm adapter to hook it up to the tv then it would be able to transmit the audio from the tv to the headset via bluetooth. I'm going to attach examples of the items you would need also to make this work. Hope that helps.

They dont come with the standard headphone plugin that all non-blutooth earbuds/headphones do. So as long as your tv is bluetooth capable these can pair to it.. But im not sure what kinds of tvs are bluetooth capable these days. But theyll pair with any other bluetooth device i would assume! Good luck!
