“Is the piece that locks it in you ear removable or permanently attached?”

• It is not removable though you can cut or snip the piece off if it bothers you. My 6-month old Rottweiler did the honors to my daughter's set but also ate the small in-ear speaker as well, so I would advise using very sharp scissors or a small knife instead of deploying a puppy. (Yes, we bought her another pair [the daughter, not the puppy].)

• Permanently attached. The in-ear cone is removable but that is a separate piece.

• This piece is permanently attached. You are able to remove the actual ear buds.

• Seem to be permanently attached. At least I haven't found out a way to remove them. On the other hand, I haven't tried very hard to remove the locks.
