“geek squad came to install my electric range and brought 4 prong cord but they said it can't be installed because it had 4 prong 50 amp dryer receptacle. I'm very confused because the smart choice they brought even says range or dryer cord.”

I have run in to that before. They look similar it's the amps that makes the deference. If it says both range and dryer that's fine. However a dryer only needs 30 amps a range needs 50 amps so if it says for both it should work if it,s only dryer you would fry the range.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.They did not know what they were talking about. Dryers are typically 30 AMP, not 50 AMP. Your range receptacle may be a 40 or 50 AMP circuit. Check the breaker panel for Amperage rating or check the receptacle for it's rating. The number of prongs does not designate the receptacle rating.
