• The key difference between a three prong outlet and a four prong outlet is that a three prong outlet has only two hot wires and a neutral one. It has no separate ground wire. Therefore the dryers neutral was tied to the ground connection on the metal case of the dryer

• I have no picture, but I can share my experience. The recommended 10 gage wiring has three wires: two hot and a ground; but the four wires are in the 8 gage that I had to use on thirty foot length. I used the red and white for hot, the bare for ground, then left the black idle and tied back to the main wiring out of the way.
