The way the breaker works is that it's rated to "break" at >40 amps but your dryer cord is rated up to 30 amps. This means if there is an issue and greater than 30 amps is drawn on the unit the wiring inside the dryer and the cord to the dryer from the outlet can overheat and potentially cause a fire.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would change breaker to 30amp unless there is something else sharing that outlet Because if dryer exceeds 30a breaker will never trip. But first make sure the dryer start up current doesn't exceed 30amp
