It charges the camera battery. There is an indicator on your phone app that lets you see the percentage of charge remaining on your camera. It also has a symbol to show when it is being charged. I have 3 Arlo Pro 3 cameras that I have had mounted with the Solar Panels for the Arlo Pro 3 camera since December 27th . All 3 of these cameras have maintained a charge ranging from 95% to 100% daily. These cameras replaced my Arlo Pro 2 cameras with their appropriate Pro 2 solar panels. The Pro 3 cameras and Pro 3 Solar panels work much better and maintain a charge longer and quicker than the previous ones. When the seasons change from Winter to Summer you may have to adjust the angle on the solar panel.
