A:AnswerIs your PS3 outputting audio in PCM mode? If so the PS3 is handling the decoding and since the AVR isn't the lights won't light up. Switch the PS3 to bitstream and the AVR will decode the audio. Which sounds better is up to you- I like bitsrream because it lights up the logos on the AVR so I know I have my source in Surround sound without digging through a bunch of menus.
A:AnswerI'm not sure if this helps, but the only speaker connection we had a problem with was the subwoofer. Apparently this unit requires a subwoofer that has to have its own power source. Not sure if the turntable you are using needs the subwoofer to complete the sound, but if so, that may be part of the problem.
A:AnswerI have seen ratings online of the power from 90 watts to 145 watts per channel. (145w x 7) at 20hz -20khz.
I take all of that with a giant grain of salt. Consumer surround receivers like this simply cannot deliver that, especially when on the back of it, it is rated at 120v AC and 240watts.
145 watts x all channels for maybe a few milliseconds, not continuous. The most efficient of amps run at 90% efficiency, most at about 50-60 %, so when it draws 240watts from the outlet, where are the rest of the watts coming from? The power supply capacitors can supply higher power for momentary peaks, but not continuous power. It is also not listed as a high current amp, which you won't find at this price point.
That all being said, this receiver sounds pretty darn good. Its ability to properly equalize different model speakers into one uniform sound field is simply remarkable. it is also fairly easy to setup, and the remote is more straight forward than the typical Yamaha remote. My Polks have never sounded so good for home theater use.
But don't expect it to sound like a high current amp, or an amp from when watts were measured as real watts ( the 1970's ) ! For that you need to spend much much more.
A:AnswerYou can switch off the surround sound to only use the front stereo speakers and you can turn them back on for multiroom audio. But it's going to be the same sound in both rooms you can't run separate outputs to each room.
A:AnswerHi Gamesky, The Sony STRDH770 is not capable of wifi connectivity. It supports 7.2 channel audio but not capable to output Dolby Atmos. We also recommend you to visit the link below to check the product specification. https://docs.sony.com/release//SPECS/STRDH770_mksp.pdf -Jerome
A:AnswerLet me clarify - I have two of JBL Arena 170 tower speakers that can handle 20 - 200 watt from Amplifier. So how does it matter since the amplifier can provide 145 per channel. Even if I turn full volume, both speakers and amplifier should not be affected. Having 8 ohm impedance draws less current from the amplifier circuit.
A:AnswerHi amny212,
There's no HDMI configuration in this receiver. Make sure to select the correct INPUT and check the Speaker Settings.
