“I have a 5100 camera body and was wondering which lens yield the best results at 16mm: The 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 Retractable Zoom Lens OR this one? Besides the low light capabilities what other advantages, if any, does the 16mm f/2.8 have over the 16-50mm?”

Hi DGalv! The Sony 16mm prime lens is a lot better than the 16-50mm zoom lens in terms of image quality, sharpness, speed, & low light capability. -Anthony

The 16mm f2.8 has a larger depth of field (which give you a blurry background). Rather than a 16-50mm, which has a low of f3.5 or f4 which is not as blurry in the background, unless you are standing the correct distance (from your background to your subject). I prefer prime lenses.
