“How good is the sound without use of subwoofer? I mistakenly thought I wouldn't have to plug in subwoofer and placing subwoofer by sound bar is not an option.”

I recommend to get the sub woofer with the sound bar it is a great dual system.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The sound quality without the sound bar is not good at all. I initially installed without the sound bar and the quality was not much better than the stock tv speakers. Really need the subwoofer to complete the field of sound.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would say you definitely want the subwoofer. And you definitely want its volume turned up; otherwise, its output is less than optimal. The subwoofer doesn't have to be near the soundbar. It will make a wireless connection to the subwoofer from a very long distance; that's how mine is set up.
